By George, Asda tops M&S on clothes sales

Asda has overtaken Marks & Spencer as Britain's biggest clothing retailer.

Within the last three months its market share has risen to 9.4 per cent, while M&S remained static at 9.1 per cent, says market research group Taylor Nelson Sofres.

Asda's clothing range, George, now has an annual turnover of £1billion internationally. M&S chief executive Stuart Rose is already under pressure to revive the High Street chain.
