British Museum’s explosive plot

The British Museum takes centre-stage in a new novel by Percy Jackson creator Rick Riordan.

The gallery which houses the Rosetta Stone is blown up within the first two chapters of The Red Pyramid.

Riordan, a former teacher who lives in Texas, re-visited the museum last summer to make sure he got the layout and exhibits right in the opening scenes.

He said: "It's a wonderful institution. I only blow up places that I respect."
