Blair offers hope to first time buyers

First time homebuyers could be given government help to get on to the property ladder, Tony Blair has hinted.

The Prime Minister told Labour party staff he wanted to increase supplies of affordable housing and help those struggling to buy a home.

In a speech setting out his plans for the new political season, he said his "prospectus" for the run-up to the general election would include "increasing the supply of new housing and giving more help to people to get on the housing ladder". The Government already provides packages to help so-called key workers.
