Bid to claw back £1bn for London

Tourism chiefs launch a campaign today to recover at least half of the £1billion lost to London's tourist businesses last year.

Lavish celebrations surrounding the Queen's Golden Jubilee will spearhead a multi-million pound "UKOK" campaign to woo overseas visitors back to Britain.

It aims to claw back at least half of the £2 billion lost nationally - including the £1 billion in London - through the combined effects of the foot-andmouth outbreak, a strong pound and 11 September.
