Homes and Property | Home PageBest buddies to help worst at recyclingMark Prigg|Science Correspondent12 April 2012London councils are to hold a recycling summit to recognise the capital's top performing boroughs and policies.Local authority bosses will form a "buddy system", in which the best recyclers will help the worst, at the London Remade network meeting next month.The LDA and Lottery-funded organisation has singled out the greenest boroughs ahead of the event. It named Camden and Harrow as the best recyclers and recognised Tower Hamlets for its work in inner-city estates.Harrow said the key to its success was the introduction of "blue bins" for dry items such as bottles and glass.Susan Hall, Harrow's portfolio holder for the environment, said: "This is a tremendous result and recognises that householders are really working with us on the agenda to keep Harrow clean and green."David Pietropaoli, senior project manager at London Remade, added: "Estates, flats among shops and trade waste are particular problems for London.
