Meet those celebrities who count their pennies by shopping on the high street.

Topshop

It would be easier to compile a list of who doesn't shop there. Topshop's latest convert is Gwyneth Paltrow, who recently persuaded the store to open out of hours to rummage through the rails undisturbed. She stocked up on tops, trousers and a collection of beanie hats. She is obviously taking the indie-chick, celebrity-girlfriend look to heart - she wore one of the low-key £10 hats to watch boyfriend Chris Martin play at the Brits. At the recent London Fashion Week, foreign fashionistas made the huge Oxford Circus store their first stop and the high street store has managed to become as cool as the designers it copies. Zara

Since the Spanish store arrived on our shores, celebrities have rushed to rifle through its catwalk copies, some of which look better than the originals. Zara puts its success down to cutting-edge design at bargain prices. Last summer's peasant-look flew off the rails and this winter's coats were a hit - Martine McCutcheon bought a cream one for £100. H&M

With vest tops from £4.99 and trousers from £14.99, H&M is cheap but that doesn't put off some of the most glamorous celebrities. Even the advertising campaigns, shot by Mario Testino and starring everyone from Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer to Heidi Klum, are super chic. The best stores for stars are in Kensington High Street and Covent Garden, where Kate Winslet was recently spotted buying lingerie.
