Bardot fined for racist book

Former sex symbol Brigitte Bardot was fined £3,300 yesterday for inciting racial hatred in a book.

In A Scream In The Silence, published last year, the 69-year-old laments the 'underground and dangerous infiltration of Islam' in France and calls homosexuals 'fairground freaks'.

A Paris court also fined the book's publisher, Le Rocher, £3,000. It is the fourth such fine the film star-turned-environmental activist has received since 1997.
