BA union offers to take pay cut

British Airways bosses will meet unions next Tuesday for talks to avert strikes that could affect millions.

Unite, representing most BA staff, made a dramatic attempt to end the dispute today by offering to cut cabin crew pay by 3.4 per cent.

Senior union sources said they would also agree a two-year pay freeze as part of a deal to save BA £60 million. BA would only say: "Talks continue."
