Audiences walk out of silent film The Artist

Audience members have been walking out of cinemas in disgust after finding that the award-winning silent film The Artist has no dialogue.

The Golden Globe-winning movie, which is also up for 12 Baftas, has been a surprise hit in black and white and with old-fashioned subtitles.

But some film-goers have been so upset about the film's lack of talking they have demanded their money back.

One cinema in Liverpool had so many complaints it introduced a policy of only giving refunds if the complainant walked out within 10 minutes. The film's director, Michel Hazanavicius, said he found it "hilarious".
