Asbo pigs are in the mire again

A herd of pigs were in trouble today for escaping again - hours after their farmer was given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order for failing to control them.

The order (Asbo) was imposed on Brian Hagan by magistrates in Cromer, Norfolk after they heard how his pigs regularly wandered onto a neighbour's land damaging gardens and crops.

It is thought to be the first time an Asbo - legislation introduced to counter unruly behaviour - has been used in relation to farm animals. Police said they received complaints from neighbours that the pigs escaped again shortly after yesterday's court case.

A spokesman said officers were now planning to speak to Mr Hagan.

"My understanding is that they have now been gathered up," he said. Mr Hagan was unavailable for comment.
