£13.8m bill for Jubilee trial lawyers

A lawyer in the collapsed Jubilee line fraud trial became a legal aid millionaire and others earned hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Geoffrey Cox QC, was the biggest earner in the defence team for the five men accused of one of Britain's biggest frauds, receiving ?1,035,342 in a massive legal aid bill for the 21-month Old Bailey case which collapsed. The total bill came to £13,878,770.

According to the Legal Services Commission, Dorian Lovell-Pank, QC, received £422,860, even though he left the case early. Isabel Dakyns earned £629,149, Anthony Berry, QC, earned £736,755, Chris Sallon QC, received £360,233 and Peter Carter QC, whose client pleaded guilty, earned £115,168.
