Airport Santa gets the sack after elf bother

A man hired as a Father Christmas was sacked from his role at Sydney's international airport today following allegations of misconduct towards his elves.

The man, who was wearing a red Santa outfit, was fired for what a worker from Australian airline Qantas described as "inappropriate gestures to the elves."

An airport spokesman said there were complaints from promotional contractors that the Santa was behaving in an "unprofessional manner".

The international terminal is used by 35 airlines and an average of 90,000 passengers pass through the airport every day.

The airport spokesman said the man was fired immediately.

"A new Santa will be on duty tomorrow," he added.
