Airline worker stole £30,000 in air miles

An airline worker who travelled first-class around the world and bought goods using five million air miles filched from passengers was jailed for nine months today.

Satpal Singh, 24, a customer services agent for Air Canada at Heathrow, opened 16 accounts with a total value of more than £30,000.

Police searching his home found photographs of planes he had flown in as well as a DVD player, digital video camera, mini-fridge and kitchen equipment.

Singh, who joined Air Canada in April 2000 and started his scam the next year, admitted or asked to be considered at Isleworth Crown Court over 100 charges of false accounting and deception.
