Admit it with pride: My bum looks big in this

Pick up any women's magazine and you're likely to spot a feature on how to fight the flab, drop a dress size or get a beach body by dinner time.

When fashion stories do occasionally feature plus-size women — usually no more than a size 16 — the spread is inevitably flanked by tips on what to wear to hide your lumps and bumps.

DIVA never runs diet features nor do we suggest that readers cover up their fat bits. That's because although most women's lives are better today than they were at the birth of women's lib in the Seventies, where the body's concerned, things are far worse.

When it comes to representing real women, we stand alongside author Susie Orbach, a fierce critic of the multi-million-pound market that feeds insecurities and a sense of detachment from our own bodies.

When DIVA published a Fat issue recently we featured gorgeous plus-size models and invited readers to liberate their inner fatty, so of course, we were delighted when we heard about Big Bum Jumble and we'll be very happy to stand in line tomorrow among the capital's coolest fatshionistas.
