A second royal date for Will

Pop Idol winner Will Young last night received his second royal appointment - to sing at the request of Prince Charles at a charity concert next month.

He will sing alongside his Pop Idol rival Gareth Gates at the London Arena on 6 April in aid of The Prince's Trust. The news comes only days after the Queen booked Young to sing at her own jubilee garden party in June.

Young and Gates will be joined by the other eight Pop Idol finalists in the concert to raise an expected £250,000 for the trust, which "helps 14 to 30-year-olds channel their energy and potential into turning their lives around". The 10 will be backed by The Big Blue, as on the hit ITV series.

Last night, Young said: "It's a huge honour and a fantastic opportunity."

Gates added: "We all hope we are able to raise enough money to help make a difference to the lives of some of those people involved in the Trust."
