Dotty or notty? Yorkshire's famous Spotty House has the option of being plain white
Most of us would love to live in a home that stands out from the crowd and this uniquely decorated house certainly does that.
Officially called The Royal Oak, after the pub it once housed, the 18th-century, grade II-listed property is known throughout Knaresborough - and the world - as The Spotty House.
Plain white underneath, the house was adorned with dozens of red spots in 2014 when Yorkshire hosted the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, and the owner, then mayor of the town, decorated it in tribute to the jersey worn by the King of the Mountain rider.
The four-bedroom house was seen by hundreds of millions of television viewers in 160 countries as the riders swept past it.
Would-be buyers should note that the peel-off vinyl spots are not compulsory for this historic landmark building which is for sale at £850,000, with the price also including two award-winning holiday cottages, one with three bedrooms and the other with two.
