Kopi Luwak Ruby and Kopi Luwak Diamond are the world’s rarest and most expensive coffee brand. So exclusive, in fact, that the company operates on an invitation only basis and produce very small quantities from their estate in the Gayo region in Sumatra.

Richard Hardwick and Neil Reilly are the brains behind the bean, sharing over 20 years of experience in the luxury industry. Together with Ade Makmursyah as their coffee director, they set about locating some of the original Kopi Luwak plantations in Sumatra to gain a deeper understanding of the incredible, natural processes of gathering these coveted, wild Arabica beans.

The Indonesian plantation has a terroir that can be compared to some of the finest in the Champagne region. Kopi Luwak or ‘civet coffee’ refers to the seeds of coffee berries once they have been eaten and digested by the Asian palm civet, a process which reduces acidity and creates a smooth, refined taste. Post-civet the beans are then hand collected, triple sorted, roasted and overseen by one of London’s finest master roaster.

From £6,200 for KL Ruby coffee beans: the finest detail from the bean to the packaging and presentation.
