A number of Londoners want offices closer to home

Scores of workers in the capital want to do their jobs in a local office closer to home rather than commute into central London daily, according to the findings of new research.

Of 350 people questioned that live and work in greater London, 43% said they want to be in a local workspace some or all of the time.

Just 7% opted to return to an office full time with no option of remote working following the Covid-19 lockdown, the study by property consultancy Spacemade said.

Many of the respondents, who are in various sectors such as banking, engineering, real estate and IT, are among those that have been working from home since the Covid-19 lockdown started in March.

The results found 61% would like to work two to three days in an office near home. They want to supplement the remainder of the week with working from a central HQ or from home.
