The buzz: the new Covent Garden-based wine bar from the Experimental Group, with 400-plus regularly changing bins.

The deal: You come to this chic, Parisian-style hideaway to go off-piste on the diverse wine list with sommelier Julia. It also does delicious little British-with-a-twist-of-French dishes, matched to the wines of course.

Good for: clandestine dates.

Order: whatever Julia tells you to: we loved the “Lyseras” Y Cuilleron 2012 St Joseph, a fruity yet dry white.
