London’s best alternative Christmas shows and cabaret
Forget the mistletoe, just keep the wine: London's best alternative clubs are serving up a variety of non-traditional festive offerings, and there's not a turkey among them.
There's comedy, cabaret, cross-dressing and things we probably shouldn't write about in too much detail. It's all looking like glorious fun, and some of it truly bewildering. It beats drinking sherry with decrepit relatives you'd half-forgotten you had.
That's not to say there isn't plenty of classic Christmas entertainment across the capital: if you're looking after little ones, be sure to look through our picks of the best shows and pantomimes lighting up the stage.
