TOWIE star Ferne McCann makes musical theatre debut in Gatsby show

Ferne McCann has just realised one of her biggest dreams as she has landed a role in the Gatsby musical.

The former star of The Only Way is Essex, who left the reality show in February, is playing Myrtle Wilson - the married mistress of Tom Buchanan - in the musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel The Great Gatsby.

During a rehearsal, the 25 year-old told London Live how excited she was about the open night, but confessed she was also “apprehensive” as the big moment was getting closer.

“It’s bound to be nerves. I feel like nerves show that you are passionate about something and that you care. So, I am excited, but super nervous”, Ferne said.

Having studied theatre at school, acting was something the star was eager to try at some point in her life. Despite her character’s tragic end in the play, Ferne is finding several things in common with Myrtle and taking that to the stage.

“She wants to be with someone that she can’t have. I think most people can probably relate to that in their lives, I definitely can. It’s about taking those experiences from your life and putting into your performance.”
