But we aren't talking about who should be the new England football coach. We don't even mean the big debate over who should be speaker of the House of Commons. We are, of course, talking about the annual Evening Standard Pub and Bar of the Year awards. Oh yes indeed...

As of today, five fine pubs and five great bars have the distinction of being able to call themselves the finalists in this most prestigious of competitions.

Two sets of judges will spend the next few weeks arriving unannounced to put each pub and bar to the test before deciding on the two outstanding winners.

But who are these celebrated guardians of taste? And where are these brilliant boozers? We need to know. Now.
