Table Talk

Toby Young|Evening Standard
10 April 2012
  • Scott's 20 Mount Street, W1 (020 7629 5248)

Who goes there?

The culinary institution, once a magnet for the seafood cognoscenti, remains a star attraction. Recent celeb fraternisers include Eric Clapton, Brian Wilson, Patsy Kensit, Rod Stewart, Liza Minenelli and Joan Collins.

Why?

Scott's has been invigorated by a refurbishment. The traditional menu remains for loyal regulars, but virtuoso Antipodean chef Michael McEnearney has provided some piquant additions.

What do they wear?

Once described as 'fit for a funeral', it's now couture frocks and corporate paunches.

Who to know

Brian Clivaz, the owner and brainchild behind Home House and Scott's, or general manager David Seccombe.

Hot dish

From Cornwall, general manager David Seccombe, 32, worked with Brian Clivaz at Simpson's before moving with him to Scott's. 'The great thing about my job is that no day's the same. It has been a joy to nurture the development of Scott's and put it back on the map.'
