Pop-up matcha café Tombo to launch at Liberty
Iconic London department store Liberty will launch a pop-up matcha café later this month, offering green tea in various edible and drinkable guises.
The space will run for six weeks from Friday May 20 as part of a partnership between the shop and Japanese green tea specialists Tombo — a teaming both parties are hoping will be a matcha made in heaven.
It will serve drinks including Tombo’s signature matcha latte and iced matcha tea, along with a cinnamon matcha latte and iced matcha apple and ginger tea specially created for the pop-up.
Snacks will span matcha brownies, matcha Oreo cookies and matcha marshmallows.

Teas and brewing tools will also be available to buy.
The pop-up acts as a precursor to the launch of Tombo’s Poké and Matcha bar on nearby D’Arblay Street in June. It will specialise in the namesake Hawaiian raw fish dish along with green tea.
Tombo already runs a café in South Kensington and also supplies matcha for restaurants including Kurobuta and Jason Atherton’s Sosharu.
