New Chapter for AA Awards

It is situated just a stone's throw from one of the busiest motorways in the South-East and offers threecourse meals for less than £30.

But when it comes to the ultimate dining experience, Chapter One in Bromley can outshine the most prestigious establishments.

The 120-seat venue has beaten the likes of Gordon Ramsay's fashionable Chelsea restaurant and David Moore's Pied à Terre in Soho to win the title of AA Restaurant of the Year in England.

Chapter One was chosen from more than 1,000 restaurants for its smart suburban appeal and high-quality, affordable European food.

For a set price of £26.95 diners can order ravioli of lobster to start, then roast wild halibut accompanied by tarte tatin of beetroot, white onion purée and a light horseradish sauce, with pineapple tatin, coconut pannacotta and mango sorbet for dessert.

AA Restaurant of the Year spokeswoman Nicola Atkinson said: "We think this is the restaurant that has the best formula in its category. It is a suburban restaurant and has a very local focus." It was also awarded four rosettes by AA judges.

Penny Jackson, operations manager for Chapter One, said: "It is fantastic news. It is a real privilege to win this title and we are thrilled."
