London brunch breakdown: Dean Swift, Bermondsey

The fullest of Englishes ought to come with a pint, says Ben Norum
Pub brunch: Dean Swift now serves on Saturday mornings

Enter the latest addition to the repertoire: a Saturday brunch that gives you the perfect excuse to start early.

What’s on the menu? It’s a pretty classic affair, with the menu made up of big-hitters such as smashed avo on toast, eggs Benedict and a Full English.

At each stage the deliciousness is in the detail, with good produce and precise cooking — runny yolks and grease-free bangers all round. In fact, the Full English, complete with black pudding and bubble & squeak, is among the capital’s best.

Just add beer: the fullest of Full Englishes at Dean Swift

The team have wisely added a Bloody Mary onto the menu — a rather nice one too — given it tends to be the brunch drink of choice. But frankly, when you’re in a pub with as good a beer selection as the Dean Swift has, it ought always to ale o’clock in my book.

In fact, from now on to be considered as full as can be, a Full English should be accompanied by glistening, golden pint of the stuff.
