Out Of It, by contrast, is much more ambitious - and, to my mind, much more contentious. I agree with Walton's argument for the decriminalisation of drugs, though there are ranker hypocrisies and greater stupidities (such as Britain's prostitution laws) for which reform should surely come first. But intoxication as a human right? As someone who gets mildly intoxicated twice a day, every day of the year, it seems self-evident that this is one of life's luxuries.
