Five things Fay Maschler ate this week

1. Maine lobster tails, pictured, two for £11 from Waitrose, steamed and eaten with handmade mayo at home. Almost all of the pleasure, none of the hassle.

2. A clear night in an eerily quiet week for traffic and people is ideal for visiting Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station where we have a dramatic tangle of zucchini fritti at D&D’s Fiume.

3. The USP at Parisian import Yen in the posh development 190 Strand is soba (buckwheat) noodles made fresh every service, but it is homemade tofu in a tranquil turquoise bowl that steals my heart.

4. I love Soho’s L’Escargot, scene of one of the best birthday parties (mine) I’ve ever been to. Dish of the day from chef James Tyrrell is luscious sweetbreads.

5. BBQ carrot, oyster mushroom, turmeric root, kelp and pistachio, delectable virtue at Chess Club where Jackson Boxer devises the menu.
