This minimally decorated restaurant and oyster bar is in the same family as Thai Metro a few doors away. An oriental influence on the various menus, including the good value Xpress lunch, delivers dishes such as lobster and ginger ravioli with cardamom and carrot infusion and teriyaki glazed seared beef with salad of pear and sesame. Sweet service.

Foodies love Fino for the precision of the Spanish cooking, the chance to roam through many small dishes - many of them grilled on the plancha - the passion of the owners for their subject, the milk-fed lamb, the Spanish wines and sherries. Surroundings are stylish; a cool place to celebrate summer.

Some of the items on the menu of this Philippine restaurant turn out to be spring rolls, satay and noodle assemblies by another name but there is an interesting, discernible difference in the emphasis of spicing and flavourings - palm sugar and palm vinegar play their parts - and a very determined use of pork; everything but the squeak.

No one would deny that Gennaro Contaldo, a mentor of Jamie Oliver, has a heartfelt passion for Italian food, with extra enthusiasm reserved for breads, mushrooms, herbs and wild greens. Often his finds are displayed on a table outside. I usually order a salad followed by the exceptional pasta but there are some agreeably rustic main courses.
