Eat in the New Year

Not sure where to spend your New Year's Eve? How about seeing in 2004 with a marathon eating session?

Some folk want to party until dawn on New Year's Eve, but those who prefer to exercise their tastebuds will appreciate the range of posh nosh on offer - especially when supplemented with a view on the festivities. Meanwhile, at The Roof Gardens, £180 gets you a five-course dinner in their seventh-floor restaurant Babylon, unlimited drinks, music, fireworks and even breakfast, for the really energetic or the unfeasibly greedy. So those who don't want to choose between eating well and partying would do well to head here.

The most exotic room with a view must be Nobu offshoot Ubon, where dinner includes such unusual treats as fresh water eel with sweet sansho pepper sauce. A nine-course meal (presumably, it being Japanese food, the portion sizes make this manageable) will be £95 without drinks, although fruit sake with dessert is included.
