I often come here in the mornings after the show: during the day, you see all Portobello life, and it's a nice way to watch the day go by. I have some portobello mushrooms on toast with hollandaise sauce or muesli with natural yogurt. And they do crumpets with Marmite.

Why this place doesn't have a Michelin star I don't know; it's the best Indian cooking in London. I love sitting in the conservatory on a Sunday afternoon with the jazz pianist playing. I'm vegetarian and they do this starter of Indian street food in a basket of fried potatoes - it's so tasty.

The chef is like an alchemist with food. He blends all these flavours and, if you go there early enough in the evening, they're often trying out new dishes. It's beautiful too: they've got a bohemian bar upstairs with board games, paintings and odd artefacts, while downstairs is white and minimal.

Ffiona's great, a real feisty woman, always sitting down to have a glass of wine with you. We were in there one lunchtime and it was completely empty when these obnoxious Sloaney types came in, saying: 'I don't think we'll have much difficulty getting a table in here.' So Ffiona says: 'I'm afraid we're fully booked. Sorry.' I love it.

It's the closest bar to my house, and, as I don't drink any more, I like their non-alcoholic cocktails. And you can do celebrity spotting. It's funny, you see it as an endorsement if a celebrity eats there. Then you look at how they conduct their lives, and you think: 'They've clearly got no taste, why do I see that as an endorsement?'
