In both spaces, Ikea-blend wood rules: overall, the decor lacks character, conviction and, as a result, any sense of permanence. This is a shame, because the modern European food and service is very good. Our starters of tasty, golden brown sea scallops with a sharp vinaigrette dip (£5.50) and a buffalo mozzarella salad (£5.50) were well presented. Entrecote steak (£10.50) came exactly as requested and the varied textures of the goat's cheese tartlet (£8.50) - crisp pastry, lettuce, and warm, fullbodied goat's cheese - worked a treat.
