£20 for a teacup, Gordon?

Gordon Ramsay could be brewing up a storm over a teacup after launching his own range of branded goods.

The celebrity chef, known for his penchant for the F-word, could be the subject of a few swear words himself when buyers find it costs £20 for a cup and saucer. The TV presenter will be using the new 'fine dining' bone china tableware at his own Michelin-starred restaurant in Claridge's, London.

The new set includes large white dinner plates priced at £19 each - or £21 with embossed edges - as well as mugs at £12 or £14 and a box set of two espresso cups with saucers costing up to £34. Ramsay is also launching his own set of drinks glasses.

The Hell's Kitchen presenter collaborated on the project with designers from Royal Doulton. The chef's spokeswoman said: 'They went round restaurants together and took into account what fits in dishwashers and what was practical.'

The 17-piece range will be in high street stores from May. It follows the success of kitchenware ranges by chefs such as Nigella Lawson.
