And so to Bed

Located along the road from Lifthouse and Fabric, Bed is, unsurprisingly, a bar with its mission statement printed on the menus. This makes for a mirth-packed ten minutes when you compare claims that it's 'the ideal destination venue for London's eclectic crowd' offering a 'bohemian vibe' with the reality - that of a Moroccan-themed afterwork watering hole for suits, with background music supplied by Bob Dylan.

Still, the low-slung red sofas, shiny tray-topped tables and uplighters give the 300-capacity venue the illusion of size, complemented by an inviting Bedouin tent-inspired basement bar and mezzanine floor with its own water feature.

Each page of the menu is an invitation to hurtle down the highway to inebriation and we jumped aboard the Bed Shooters bus with abandon - B52s, Army Greens , Flatliners and, our particular favourites, the B56s (Kahlua, Baileys, absinthe) which cost a mere £2.50 each.

This warmed us up nicely for the Rum Choc Chip cocktails (slightly too bitter, but washed down the vodka chocolate mousse nicely), brain- melting Bedhead (rum, vodka and Chambord, which might have tasted better if the Bacardi float was aflame, as advertised) and our absolute new favourite drink - the Absinthe Fountain ( champagne, absinthe and demerara sugar) clocking in at a don't-think-too-hard £6.95.

With such an array of more-ish concoctions, we couldn't have given a camel's hump if the decor was Moorish or Martian: it's worth staying in Bed.
