Alan Titchmarsh pizza portrait comes to Chelsea

To celebrate the 2016 RHS Chelsea Flower show, PizzaExpress have created a series of bloomin’ marvellous dishes built with edible flowers – including a pizza with Alan Titchmarsh’s face on it.

On Tuesday May 24, diners headed to the PizzaExpress on the King’s Road, Chelsea, can try pizzas dressed with flowers for free.

The pizza chain, which first opened doors in Soho during the mid-sixties, have teamed up with food artist Prudence Staite to create the three unusual plates in celebration of the annual flower show. These include a Mary Berry Rose pizza, which recreates the special 45-petal hybrid tea rose using slices of mozzarella, and an Alan Titchmarsh pizza, which offers a portrait of the famous gardener put together out of ham, pasanta, peppers, rocket, black olives and pansies.

For anyone hungry, the King’s Road branch are giving away 20 garden-themed pizzas for free, although these will be a slightly more subdued affair which promise to be decidedly more edible: the Flower Power pizza is topped with pansies and rocket and not an ex-Groundforce presenter in sight.

Devastatingly, customers won’t be able to tuck into Titchmarsh’s face as the pizza is a one-off.
