Family films for a rainy day

Shaun grows tired of the daily routine on Mossy Bottom Farm, so the herd hoodwinks the Farmer into taking a well-deserved day off. But the plan goes awry and the farmer ends up in the Big City suffering from memory loss. Shaun and friends go to bring their master home despite the attentions of an animal-containment officer.

From the moment baby Riley opens her eyes, her mood is shaped by five coloured emotions – golden Joy, blue Sadness, purple Fear, red Anger and green Disgust – which bicker behind a large control desk.

Joy is the dominant emption, but when Riley turns 11, her parents relocate from Minnesota to San Francisco, nudging Sadness to the fore.

William Shakespeare dreams of becoming a playwright but his wife wants him to provide for his brood. Unperturbed, Bill packs his knapsack and heads to the capital, where he befriends Christopher Marlowe. The two join forces on a play, which they intend to sell to The Earl Of Croydon, who has promised comical entertainment for Queen Elizabeth I as the centrepiece of a summit with King Philip II of Spain.

Moominpappa, Moominmamma, Little My and Snorkmaiden hit the French Riviera. The latter’s head is turned by playboy Clark Tresco, which angers Moomintroll. Meanwhile, Moominpappa befriends aristocrat Marquis Mongaga adopting the title de Moomin to impress his new acquaintance.
