The Food Blog: The post party takeaway

Are you famous and a furtive foodie? Mary Kantrantzou is. The dress designer and London’s “queen of prints” has begun ordering meals from a website called RoomService.co.uk which is exactly as it sounds: you find your favourite local restaurant in central London, pick whatever you want from the menu and have it delivered to your door. Jemima Khan, Tara Palmer Tomkinson and Tamara Ecclestone have all admitted to using it.

Room Service started in 2003 but with all the cooking and preparations for this weekend’s Diamond Jubilee, after Sunday no one is going to have any energy left for dinner preparation. What we really after watching the pageant is to veg out with a takeaway in front of the TV – without anyone seeing.

The website offers delivery across central London and from it you could order a roasted butternut squash and pine nut salad from Sumo in EC3, Thai from The Papaya Tree or chocolate samosas from the new Zaika Bazaar in Kensington. If you’ve got deep pockets and you still want to celebrate, you could chase it up with a bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne - but you might have to be one of London’s best fashion designers to do that.
