Bespoke your minibar

Forget nuts and tinnies — some hotel rooms come stocked with champers and cocktails...

Every suite has its own in-room champagne cocktail minibar (inset). Each fridge contains half a bottle of bank-breaking champers, mixing ingredients and glasses in all shapes and sizes. You also get instructions for how to make nine different cocktails — but you could hide these and pretend you’re a pro if someone’s joining you.

With spa facilities, a shiny new lounge bar and all sorts of kinky delights in the minibar, this is perfect for a naughty night in town. Alongside drinks, there is a pleasure kit with condoms, lubes, a vibrator and a Tenga egg sex toy. You can also order in the Elton John Foundation Pack (an EJF pack if you are ordering it over the phone), which contains a penis ring, vibrator, condoms, lubes, a massage candle and two caffeine-based shots. Book your room on the first floor and you can smoke in it too.

The Zetter Townhouse, 49 St John’s Square, EC1 (thezetter.com/a/townhouse)

The drinks at this minibar were created by Tony Conigliaro of 69 Colebrooke Row fame. It’s known as the “Honesty Snack Bar” because when you leave you hand over a record of what you have consumed simply by ticking the boxes. In the bar there are five homemade classic cocktails: a manhattan, a martini, a vodka martini, a negroni and an El Presidente. Luggage label-style tags issue instructions for how to request the rest of the kit from the lobby (ice, mixing glasses, etc). “Awake” and “Asleep” potions sort out the pretox and the hangover.

The Connaught, Carlos Place, W1 (the-connaught.co.uk)

The minibar here has been disguised as beautiful Japanese-style cabinets and it’s the kind you could entertain with, packed with full-sized bottles of wines and cognacs. From a £38 bottle of wine to a 1995 special Armagnac costing £125, there’s nothing mini about this list.
