Sumptuous doesn’t quite sum up the venue which, before its opening, was the piece d’art that was missing from the heart of Chelsea’s social scene. Try sensual, brooding – even sexy. This nightclub is everyone’s hidden and secret basement hangout.
Tucked away in a corner of the royal borough, just off Fulham Road, the Valmont Club is the gem concealed behind two large plant pots and a large, shiny, black door. The venue is made up of three rooms. The lowly-lit Electric Salon, which can be privately hired out, is an elegant leathered-white room, adorned with its own bar and several statuettes of marbled animals. It acts as a starter course to the Main and Neon Lounge, where the neon walls surrounding the guests pulsate in diverse lights to the music, creating an eclectic effect. The private booths at the back of the club, where party-goers can pull velvet curtains and close off their own volume-controlling enclosures, adds an element of privacy where local footballers and celebs may choose to seclude themselves for an evening. But the secret behind the interior doesn’t just lie in the hands of unknown designers. Hoping to catapult The Valmont Club past other tried and failed Chelsea clubs, the owners called in award-winning bar designer Lee Broom, who helped them turn out a club of long high-sheen corridors and signature features; including a large white-rearing stallion.
