Smokey Tails - bar review

The buzz: New riverside pop-up bar in artist hub Hackney Wick.

The deal: Frozen cocktails and barbecued meat on the River Lea. As a further bonus, one of the founders is top Detroit DJ Seth Troxler.

Good for: Sunny afternoon cocktails or pre-warehouse-party drinks while enjoying the choicest tunes, from indietronica to house.

Order: The Cockney Fizz cocktail (£7.50) is a fruity cava delight, otherwise try Czech craft beer HOBO (£3.50). The pulled pork brioche with red cabbage (£12) is delicious: tender, satisfying, and served with two fresh and zingy salads. The Hackney Mess (£4) with lemon curd and blueberries is heavenly.

By the way: Seth Troxler’s dark, smoky barbecue sauce was passed down from his grandfather. Try it.
