BarChick's cocktail of the week: No. 69 at Angler Rooftop Terrace, South Place Hotel

The drink: No. 69

What’s in it? Tequila, avocado, agave and lime.

Why should we try it? Because it's exactly what you’d expect if you were to cross a healthy cold press juice with a Tommy’s Margarita, and it’s as delicious as it sounds. The avocado gives it a smoothie-like texture, the health-freak-friendly agave syrup replaces sugar to prevent your blood sugar levels from soaring while the tequila does, well, exactly what it’s supposed to.

Where do we get it? The chic Angler Rooftop Terrace hidden away in Moorgate’s South Place Hotel is a secret city suntrap. With a more alfresco cocktail menu than in the main bar downstairs, as well as a great wine list and terrace food bar snacks like devilled whitebait and calamari, it’s a perfect spot for kicking back with a cocktail after work to catch the last of the day’s rays.

Who do we ask for? Roland Varga, previously bartender at the Soho House Group, is the man to look for behind the bar. This dude is the head bartender at South Place Hotel, and his creativity and booze knowledge is definitely reflected through his expertly crafted drinks.
