The drink: All the Small Things

What’s in it? Stolichnaya vanilla vodka, St Germain elderflower, Aperol, cucumber, citrus, egg white and tonic. It’s served in a frozen rocks glass (no ice) with cucumber slices and a celery heart – with an ice lolly stick to eat the foam when finished.

Why should we try it? Aperol and St Germain are an excellent combination and hot in London right now. Nothing says ‘hello summer’ like these two – especially with the cucumber and tonic twist on a sour which almost feels healthy. Not only does this cocktail taste good but it's pretty to boot.

Where do we get it? The Riding House Cafe – the ideal escape from the hordes of Oxford Street shoppers. With places like Village East and the Garrison under their their belt, they know how to crowd please on the drinks front. This is the land of the power breakfast, boozy brunches and social dinners, where a fun mix of business folk, foodies, and PYTs hang out to eat, drink and look effortlessly chic among the retro tables. Don’t miss the small plates: the veal meatballs and lentils at £4 are to die for.

Who do we ask for? Peter Harrison is the man behind the stick here. After making waves in Manchester, he spent a year (which turned into four) in Australia perfecting the tricks of the trade and showing those Aussies a thing or two.
