The Lost Lectures: eclectic speakers in obscure locations

The Lost Lectures are the latest craze to come to London, featuring weird and wonderful speakers in obscure locations.

Taking lectures out of stifling academic institutions with a series of “enchanting talks from secret locations”, The Lost Lectures promise to deliver exciting speakers with an element of mystery.

Having only launched in January of this year, organisers are already planning a European branch, set to open in Berlin this summer.

The next instalment of speakers is on May 30 and 31 and is set to exhibit some of the best yet, with six 12 minute talks an evening, as well as some live taxidermy during the interval.

Founder Julian Slawinski said, “We feature leaders in their field, thinkers, doers and innovators, everyone from astronomers to artists, bloggers to beekeepers.

“Talks range from the sublime to the ridiculous. The locations are kept secret and only announced to ticket holders a few days before.”

The next lecturers to join are robotics professor Owen Holland, sex blogger Zoe Margolis and foodscaping artist Carl Warner.

Organisers use the power of social media to generate interest, only releasing the venues a few days before the event online, ensuring that they have their audience hooked for the next instalment.

Past speakers include political blogger Guido Fawkes, World Champion beatboxer Bellatrix and bestselling author Mark Forsyth.
