With Brexit, Trump, two Royal Weddings and a World Cup, there’s been plenty of reasons to raise a glass this year, whether in sorrow, celebration, or just to dull the confusion.
The endless stream of political noise and nonsense certainly hasn’t stopped us from enjoying everything that’s been so wonderful in London this year – from Clare Smyth’s domination of the restaurant world, to Banksy playing hell with an auction house and David Byrne blowing the roof off the Eventim Apollo.
It’s been the year of big headlines, too – Macca’s tales of sticky group sessions won’t quickly be forgotten, and the dead fish setting alight at the Hayward Gallery sticks in the mind.
