Movie-Con III brings big names to BFI

UK film fanatics are set to descend on BFI Southbank for Movie-Con III, a cinema-crammed weekend in collaboration with Empire magazine.

Billed as 'the UK alternative to Comic-Con', the event is packed with exclusive screenings, Q & As and the occasional A-list guest star.

To give you an inkling of what to expect, last year Robert Downey Jr. popped in to introduce Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man 2 and Guy Richie reportedly names Movie-Con as his 'favourite event of the year'.

Treats in store this time around include a sneak peak at Disney's upcoming Tron reboot starring Crazy Heart's Jeff Bridges and an exclusive showing of the hotly-anticipated new film from Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Unfortunately, weekend passes are sold out – the entire lot was snapped up by hungry fans in under an hour – but you can still pop along to the free launch party on Friday evening and purchase tickets for individual screenings, including Jean Reno's latest flick 22 Bullets and The Hole in 3D, the new movie from Gremlins director Joe Dante.

For Londoners looking for something to do next weekend, Movie-Con is a great choice. For movie fans, it's unmissable.
