Line up for London's Summer Discovery Weekend

The Horniman Museum will host Africa Live! a celebration of African people and culture

CultureLine, a partnership of 10 museums along the new London Overground East London Line, will host a Summer Discovery Weekend between 6-8 August.

The programme features exhibitions, costumed characters, guided walks and live music. From local history to international contemporary art and engineering masterpieces there are events for all interests and ages.

The weekend will kick off with a preview event at the Whitechapel Gallery on Thursday 5 August and continue with events and activities in all 10 museums along the Overground line.

For adults
Preview event at the Whitechapel Gallery on Thursday 5 August: a talk by Daniel Herrmann on Alice Neel: Painted Truth. This is the first major retrospective of the influential painter, which features a portrait of Andy Warhol previously unseen in the UK (Thursday, 7pm. Tickets £8.50/£6.50 – plus concessions. Africa Live! at the Horniman Museum: a day of celebration of the people, customs and cultures of Africa with live music, stalls and food and drink (Sunday, 1-5pm. Free)
