Another Christmas, another chance to embarrass yourself in front of friends, family, the significant other and hoards of tourists.
Ice skating season is back: picturesque rinks have popped up across the capital, most accompanied by lashings of mulled wine and a chance to put back on all the calories burned off whizzing majestically from barrier to barrier.
Everywhere in the capital is set to be extremely busy, so book your slot in advance. If you can't, turn up just before the hour, when most sessions begin. They typically last for around 40 - 50 minutes.

If at all possible, avoid heading down on weekends and evenings, when everywhere fills quickly to capacity. If you can hold off until after Christmas, all the rinks tend to be less busy, but it makes a lovely post-Christmas pick-me-up.
