Hewett Street Block Party

What better way to spend your Saturday than a free extravaganza of local design, art, food and music at the Hewett Street Block Party.

Hosted by Hewett Street residents, creative agency Protein, in conjunction with London Design Festival, this is a super way to see some East End talent in the name of a good cause (all profits from the day will go to local education charity, Hackney Pirates).

So what's on offer? First up there'll be stalls from illustrator and t-shirt maker Ted's Draws, the #1 Bow Tie King and presents-in-the-post pioneers, Not Another Bill. Australian skin care brand Aesop will be on hand giving out their beauty products so you can spend the day feeling fresh and smelling good. Got a bit of stubble going on? East London's premier barber shop, Murdock's will be offering complementary clean shaves.

On the menu will be: Burger flippers Eliot's with their top-dollar grub, Dalston's hippest new eatery Rita's with their Lime Pie and other sweet treats, and Family - a group of artists, journalists, filmmakers and food bloggers - will be serving Kimchi Quesadillas, Hurricane Popcorn and Portuguese-inspired sandwiches . Street food trucks will be pulling up including Old Street favourite, Big Apple Hot Dogs, and Sorbitum Ices and Vinn Goute - these guys specialise in Seychelles-inspired octopus coconut curry and parrot fish cakes.

To refuel and quench your thirst it's all about the local stuff, natch: London Fields Brewery lager, Dalston Cola and Hewett Street's very own slushies.

Wander down the street and you'll find Rockwell House creating live paintings and furniture designers Not Tom opening their studio doors to serve their homemade lemonade.

Providing the soundtrack to the party will be record label GetMe! (who will also be DJing), alongside Beats in Abundance, Insomniax and the Last Skeptik.

You can hit more charitable notes by taking part in the raffle which promises great prizes which we've heard include a voucher for London Field's coolest new hangout, Lardo.

This is promised to be one bonafide bonanza.
