Great Christmas Pudding Race returns to Covent Garden for 35th anniversary
The Great Christmas Pudding Race is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year in Covent Garden, on Saturday December 5.
The race, which sees teams of six tackle an obstacle-strewn course in the piazza, is in aid of Cancer Research UK. Competitors must complete the course while balancing a Christmas pudding on their plate – or risk their race coming to a sticky end.
Course highlights include an inflatable slide and a snow slalom with flying festive foam, courtesy of top steak restaurant Smith & Wollensky. Its expected a few celebrities will join the crowds to rally on racegoers, or perhaps just to tuck into any spare pud.
Competitors in the two hour race, which runs from 11am until 1pm, are encouraged to don fancy dress for the occasion.

Last year, race-organisers the Pudding Committee raised £20,000 for Cancer Research, a figure they’re opening to top this year.
There will be a sister race taking place in Cambridge at the same time.
