Frosty reception at the museum

Advanced tickets have gone on sale for the Natural History Museum's upcoming exhibition Ice Station Antarctica, which opens on 25 May.

Visitors will discover what life is like in the coldest, most remote location on earth and Ice Station Commander Sanjit Sil will lead ice cadets through a series of challenges, from riding a snowmobile to being plunged into temperatures of minus 10C.

You'll also learn about the harsh conditions that scientists have to endure as they carry out their research, including melting ice for cooking and washing, coping with 24-hour winter darkness and working in the rather whiffy penguin colonies.
